How this works
Behind the conversion math
Every conversion uses three numbers: the crypto's spot price in USD, the target fiat's USD exchange rate, and a normalisation step. Crypto-to-crypto conversions skip the fiat leg and divide the two USD prices directly — saving you a rounding error.
The spot prices come from CoinPaprika (refreshed hourly) for the top 44 tracked coins. FX rates come from open.er-api.com (refreshed every 12 hours). All math runs client-side, so you can change the amount instantly without a page reload.
This converter is informational only. The price you see on this page is mid-market — when you actually trade, you'll pay an exchange spread (usually 0.1-0.5% on liquid coins, much more on illiquid ones) plus network fees if you withdraw.
For long-tail altcoins, our spot price may diverge from a specific exchange's quote by ±1-3% during volatile periods. Always check the destination exchange's order book before executing.
FAQ
Crypto converter — frequently asked questions
How accurate is this converter?
Crypto prices are pulled from CoinPaprika's free public API every few minutes. Fiat rates come from open.er-api.com and are cached for 12 hours. For trade execution you should always check the live order book on your exchange — slippage and spread mean the price you actually receive will differ.
What's the source of the prices?
Crypto: CoinPaprika public API (volume-weighted spot, aggregated across major exchanges). Fiat: open.er-api.com (free public exchange-rate aggregator). We do not include exchange fees or taxes — these are mid-market rates.
How often do prices update?
Our crypto database refreshes every few minutes. Fiat rates refresh twice per day. If you need second-by-second precision (for actual trading), use your exchange's own data feed.
Why is the converter showing a slightly different number than my exchange?
Three reasons: (1) our aggregated mid-market price differs from your exchange's bid/ask; (2) your exchange charges trading and withdrawal fees; (3) for low-liquidity pairs the spread can be wide. We're showing a fair-market reference, not an executable quote.
